For more than 19 years, Grinder, Taber & Grinder has been a trusted partner for Rhodes College. In addition to several renovations and smaller projects, GTG has built nine new structures in the Collegiate Gothic architecture tradition of the Rhodes campus.

Robertson Hall is a $30 million, 55,000 SF state-of-the-art teaching and research lab built in the architectural style of Rhodes College with a seamlessly integrated, modern, all-glass entrance feature. GTG and partner architect Hanbury worked together to fuse contemporary building and finishing methods with a traditional and historical feel.

The footprint of the building’s close adjacency to existing roads and hardscape features required the use of soil nails to accommodate construction of the below-grade lower level, which also connects to the existing Frazier Jelke building with an underground tunnel. The complex mechanical electrical and plumbing systems were meticulously coordinated with the laboratory equipment for functionality, while also maintaining the architectural aesthetic expected at Rhodes College.
