The Crosstown neighborhood once enjoyed the largest metropolitan theater in Memphis. With the revitalization of Crosstown Concourse and the surrounding areas, it made sense to bring back a venue for large-scale, theater and performing arts. In came a new, state-of-the-art, 417-seat, black box theater in a footprint with no room to spare in the “backyard” of the Crosstown Concourse campus. Aside from the tight work space, the requirement was to have zero impact on the surrounding operations, and we complied by building rigid temporary barriers, utilizing size-appropriate equipment and overlaying our sequence of work with master campus schedules to ensure no adverse effects on campus operations.
