The Ed Rice Community Center has been a beacon of the Frayser community for nearly six decades, but needed to replace the existing building because of necessary repairs. The ground-up replacement building and surrounding campus offers art and fitness studios, flexible community gathering rooms, reception area, a game room, a large full-court gym and an outdoor, aquatics center. Through budget analysis, Grinder, Taber & Grinder determined the means and methods to salvage the original outdoor pool and equipment resulting in over $100,000 in savings for the City of Memphis. The new, 31,000-square-foot facility has a stunning, modern design, while still blending in with elements preserved from the historic community center.
