Kemmons Wilson, parent company of Holiday Inn, chose to honor its Memphis roots by renovating a 115+ year old warehouse into their new, Class A headquarters. The building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, lay in disrepair after decades of deferred maintenance, restaurant use, and abandonment. Due to our strong portfolio of revitalized historic structures, Grinder, Taber & Grinder was chosen for the multi-million dollar renovation.

The masonry exterior walls and heavy, timber beams of the original warehouse were repaired and stabilized before starting work on the inside. To preserve the timeless beauty of the interior, 90% of the existing, historic wood floors were saved, and a specialized soda and glass bead blasting medium was used to remove years of paint, exposing the natural beauty of the timber structure. Additionally, historically accurate windows were sourced to allow additional light.
