Looking to downsize from its expansive church building and surrounding grounds, the Third Church of Christ, Scientist chose to build a smaller, but updated, worship space. The new location called for demolition of an existing building and infilling a basement before the stunning, vaulted ceilings and exposed wood trusses of the contemporary, wood-framed new build could take shape. The structure includes a library, quiet and mediation rooms, office space and a custom, sound system. Additionally, great care was taken to accommodate a request by the church committee to reuse a salvaged, stained glass window in the new structure.
