A major medical device manufacturer is moving its Memphis operations.

Stryker is set to relocate its foot and ankle business from 1023 Cherry Road in East Memphis to its Arlington production facility at 11576 Memphis Arlington Road.

"We are evaluating options to support our business needs in the Memphis area," Jenny Braga, Stryker's senior communications manager, told MBJ in an email. "As part of this process, we will relocate operations from our currently leased Cherry Road site in Memphis, which became part of Stryker through the Wright Medical acquisition, through a phased approach that ensures business continuity and minimizes disruption."

Braga did not disclose a timeline for the move, but said Stryker's lease at the Cherry Road facility is set to end in October 2026. "As part of this transition, we’re currently working through plans to relocate our testing lab from this site to our Arlington campus, which is a site we own," Braga said. "Our aim is to have a space where we can support both our manufacturing operations and customer engagement."

Stryker took over the lease to the Cherry Road site and took over ownership of the Arlington facility after acquiring Wright Medical Group in 2020 in a $4 billion deal.

Memphis-based general contractor Grinder, Taber & Grinder filed a permit valued at $1.4 million with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for the medical technology giant's renovations to its Arlington site. Local design company The Crump Firm is the architect for the project.

The development of "Stryker Building C" is in preparation for the move and Braga said the company "regularly evaluates our operations to ensure we can support long-term growth, serve our customers, and operate efficiently."

The filed permit details a one-story, 4,700-square-foot addition to the Arlington campus.

Michigan-based Stryker is the eighth-largest manufacturing company and third-largest medical device company in the Memphis area with 461 employees, according to MBJ research.
