Food News Bites: Big Bad Breakfast To Open In Cooper-Young

Memphis is getting another Big Bad Breakfast. The new location, which will open September 29th, will be at 2149 Young Avenue in Cooper-Young.

 Big Bad Breakfast’s other area location at 6450 Poplar Avenue opened in 2021.

According to its news release, the restaurant, founded by chef John Currence, “will be serving Southern favorites, heart-healthy options, custom cocktails and mocktails, and some of chef Currence’s famous biscuits.”

Currence, a James Beard Award winner and Michelin recommenced chef/author, now has 29 Big Bad Breakfast locations across the Southeast.

And, the release states, “The newest Memphis location will feature all of the BBB’s greatest hits, like their famous biscuits, chef Currence’s legendary shrimp and grits, and the BBB exclusive bacon cured in tabasco mash, brown sugar and sweet spices. Additional, the Cooper-Young BBB will feature fan favorites like The Soul on a Roll, The Cathead Biscuit, and the delectable deep-fried brandied French toast.”

And, the release adds, the dishes are “100 percent from scratch — breakfast/brunch/lunch.” Big Bad Breakfast is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
