The restaurant, located at 113 E. Main St. in the former City Cafe space, will be the company’s 31st location across eight states and its ninth in Tennessee.
Big Bad Breakfast is known for its made-from-scratch Southern breakfast and lunch dishes, including Currence’s signature biscuits. The menu also features healthier options, specialty cocktails, and mocktails.
Currence, a James Beard Award-winning chef and cookbook author, founded Big Bad Breakfast in Oxford, Mississippi, with a vision of creating a Southern diner serving elevated versions of traditional breakfast and lunch favorites.
“Murfreesboro is such a great town and a place that I’ve really enjoyed getting to know better every time I’ve visited, partly because it reminds me a little of Oxford, which is what makes it seem perfect for our newest BBB location,” said Currence.
He also acknowledged the history of the restaurant’s new location, which was previously home to City Cafe, a longtime downtown Murfreesboro establishment.
“We are honored to be able to carry the torch that the City Cafe has kept burning for over a hundred years and become the new home to the community who loved it so dearly,” Currence said.
Since opening its first restaurant in Oxford, Big Bad Breakfast has expanded throughout the Southeast, becoming one of the region’s growing chef-driven restaurant concepts.
The new Murfreesboro location will serve breakfast, brunch, and lunch daily from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
