FedEx Files Permit for New Buildings at Memphis World Hub

With a massive facility modernization underway, building permits continue to be filed for FedEx.

A permit valued at nearly $746,000 was filed Dec. 4 for FedEx Express, a subsidiary of Memphis-based shipping and logistics giant FedEx Corp. The permit lists the address as 2385 Sprankle Ave. and describes the work as the construction of two pre-engineered metal buildings.

Sprankle Avenue is part of the FedEx World Hub property at Memphis International Airport. The contractor listed on the permit is Grinder, Taber & Grinder, and the architect is Self Tucker Architects.

FedEx confirmed in an email that the permit is part of the ongoing modernization of the hub.

FedEx announced in March 2018 that it plans to invest $1 billion in modernization updates at the Memphis hub from 2019 through 2025. The company operates on more than 880 acres at Memphis International Airport.

FedEx employs more than 425,000 people worldwide and serves more than 220 countries and territories. On average, the company handles about 14 million shipments daily, a number that doubles during the peak holiday season.
