Satellite Music Hall

In a city built on music, there's always room for another stage. Located near the iconic Crosstown Concourse, Satellite Music Hall brought a new destination for live entertainment to Midtown Memphis. Grinder, Taber & Grinder completed the ground-up construction of the approximately 35,000-square-foot music venue, transforming a former parking lot into a modern performance space designed to welcome up to 1,300 concertgoers.

Built to accommodate everything from intimate performances to high-energy concerts, the entertainment facilityfeatures a spacious general admission floor, an elevated mezzanine, multiple bars, and dedicated backstage areas for performers and production crews. Working alongside the project team, GTG coordinated the specialized infrastructure required for a professional live music venue, including performance lighting, sound systems, and the operational spaces necessary to support touring artists and event staff.

Constructing a concert venue in an established Midtown neighborhood also required careful attention to its surroundings. The project incorporated specialized soundproofing measures to help manage sound transmission and minimize disruption to nearby properties. Reclaimed materials from the historic Sears building, now Crosstown Concourse, were also incorporated into the design, connecting the new venue to the neighborhood's industrial past.

For GTG, the project carried an additional connection to the surrounding community. Having previously helped transform the former Sears distribution center into Crosstown Concourse, our team returned to the area to contribute another piece to its ongoing revitalization. The completed commercial construction project added a purpose-built performance venue to Memphis' music scene, creating a new space for artists, audiences, and the city's longstanding live entertainment tradition.
