HERNANDO, Miss. (WMC) - The historic DeSoto County Courthouse in Hernando Square is undergoing renovations.

County officials say the courthouse at 2535 Highway 51 South remains open for business while improvements are made to the building’s interior and exterior.

The DeSoto County Courthouse, built in 1942, is a designated Mississippi Landmark.

Outside, workers are replacing sidewalks, adding new borders to the flower beds, updating the irrigation system and installing new railings.

Inside, updates are being made to the restrooms and flooring—including in the building’s corridors and courtroom.

All interior work is being conducted overnight and on weekends to ensure courthouse operations can continue as usual.
