Orpheum Theatre Campus Plaza
As part of the Orpheum Theatre Group's continued investment in its downtown Memphis campus, GTG completed a 4,800 SF exterior plaza enhancement designed to improve connectivity, accessibility, and the overall visitor experience. The project included extending the existing sidewalk and curb, installing a new trench drain for improved stormwater management, and constructing new concrete and paver hardscapes. Additional improvements included decorative illuminated bollards, benches, landscaping, and the concrete foundation supporting the new iconic "O" sculpture, creating a welcoming public gathering space between the Orpheum Theatre and the Halloran Centre. The revitalization was part of a broader effort to visually and physically unite the two venues into a cohesive campus.
Construction required careful coordination with the Orpheum's active performance schedule and the temporary closure of a nearby traffic lane to safely complete portions of the work. Through detailed planning and communication, GTG maintained progress while minimizing disruptions to theater operations and downtown traffic.
The project builds on GTG's longstanding relationship with the Orpheum Theatre Group. In addition to constructing the Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education, GTG has completed multiple projects across the Orpheum campus, supporting the organization's continued growth and investment in the arts. The completed plaza provides an inviting space for visitors to gather, relax, and engage with one of downtown Memphis' newest public art installations while strengthening the connection between two of the city's premier cultural destinations.
